Our Story

The Mountain Ranch Seed Library was born from the vision of a community member who believed that a fun, social activity could bring the town together and promote sustainable gardening practices. This idea took root and blossomed into reality with the first seed exchange event held at the Mountain Ranch Youth Alliance. What began as a modest gathering quickly captured the hearts and imaginations of local gardeners, plant enthusiasts, and families looking to connect with nature and each other.

In just a few years, the event’s popularity soared, outgrowing its initial venue. By 2023, the seed exchange had found a new home at the Mountain Ranch Town Hall, accommodating the growing number of participants and activities. Today, the Mountain Ranch Seed Library event is more than just a seed exchange. It features a vibrant array of activities, including scion exchanges, live plant sales, community speakers, and local vendors. Our latest event saw the distribution of over 500 packs of seeds, demonstrating the community’s enthusiasm and commitment to sustainable gardening and local food production. The Mountain Ranch Seed Library has truly become a cornerstone of our community, fostering a spirit of sharing, learning, and growth.
